250th Anniversary of the Worthington Meeting House
10/18/25, 4:00 PM
A community celebration marking 250 years of the Worthington Meeting House, featuring live historical performances, guided tours, and rare access to the landmark.

The Berlin Historical Society marked the 250th Anniversary of the Worthington Meeting House with a well-attended public celebration on its historic grounds. The event commemorated the long history of one of Berlin’s most significant landmarks.
A special live performance by the Theatre Guild of Berlin was a centerpiece of the day. The program opened with a proclamation from the Mayor, followed by an outdoor historical play reenacting an 18th-century dispute among Berlin townspeople that escalated to require intervention by the Sheriff of Farmington and arbitrators from the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Visitors enjoyed rare access to the interior of the Worthington Meeting House, learned about the building’s history and future preservation plans, toured the Berlin Historical Society’s 1771 House and the Esther Woodruff Memorial Butterfly Garden, and viewed long-hidden signatures and initials revealed in the restored Worthington School cupola. The celebration was free and open to the public and provided an engaging and memorable way to honor 250 years of local history.
